Amaury Cruz

In 1991, after a successful career as a newspaper and magazine writer, editor, and translator, Mr. Cruz graduated with honors from Florida State University College of Law. He was an articles and notes editor of the Law Review. He received book awards in International Business Transactions and Comparative Law-The Civil Law Tradition. He also won second prize in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Copyright Writing Competition at FSU.

Since 1991, Mr. Cruz has concentrated on intellectual property and also engaged in general litigation and appeals. He is admitted to the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Martindale Hubbell has awarded him the highest possible rating (AV) for his ethics and professional skills.

Mr. Cruz has published several scholarly pieces, including the award-winning What's the Big Idea Behind the Idea-Expression Dichotomy?-Modern Ramifications of the Tree of Porphyry in Copyright Law, as well as numerous newspaper and magazine articles, essays, and other writings. A former partner of the law firm of de la O & Marko, he has a native command of written and spoken Spanish.

Jorge I.G. del Valle

Mr. del Valle graduated from the Florida State University College of Law and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1991. Mr. del Valle also earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from Florida State University in 1987 and a Master of Science in Sports and Entertainment Administration from Saint Thomas University in 1993.

Throughout his career, Mr. del Valle has primarily concentrated his practice on complex commercial real estate transactions and has extensive experience in commercial real estate lending transactions, acquisition and development transactions, and commercial, retail, office and ground lease transactions. Mr. del Valle also has experience in residential closings, a variety of contractual matters, including independent contractor agreements, dispute resolution, general corporate, tenant eviction actions, and airplane transfers. Mr. del Valle heads the firm’s real estate transaction practice and started the firm's real estate foreclosure and property tax assessment litigation practices.
Martindale Hubbell has awarded him the highest possible rating (AV) for his ethics and professional skills.

Mr. del Valle has been involved in various community and Florida Bar committees, including the Super Bowl of Fashion benefiting Cystic Fibrosis. He was Chair of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee and is currently a member of the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee. Mr. del Valle is fluent in spoken Spanish

Henry Rodriguez

Mr. Rodriguez is a 2004 cum laude graduate of the University of Florida's Levin College of Law, where he earned Book Awards in Contract Law and Trademark Law. Mr. Rodriguez was Professor Mark A. Thurmon's research assistant and aided in the preparation of the article The Rise and Fall of Trademark Law's Functionality Doctrine. He also earned a master of arts in Political Science from the University of Florida in 2000. Mr. Rodriguez is a member of The Florida Bar.

Mr. Rodriguez is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, Intellectual Property Law Association of Florida (IPLAF), and American Bar Association (ABA). He concentrates his practice in ex parte and inter partes proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is fluent in Spanish.

Rick Ruz 

Rick Ruz, Esq., graduated from Florida International University Law School in 2007. A member of the Moot Court Team, he was Vice President of Appellate Advocacy and made the Dean's List every semester. He also won a Best Brief Award in the Fall of 2005, as well as Book Awards in Contracts, Comparative Corporate Law and Remedies. In 2003 he also graduated magna cum laude from FIU with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

His legal background includes clerking for a sole practitioner and the City of Miami's Office of the Inspector General. He concentrates on federal litigation. Mr. Ruz is fluent in Spanish.

Christopher Van Dam (of Counsel)

Mr. Van Dam is a licensed patent attorney registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and his Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University Law School in Miami, Florida. He is admitted to the Florida Bar and the U.S. District Courts in the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida.

Mr. Van Dam’s recommended approach is to prepare a comprehensive intellectual property protection plan and then to carry out the goals that are set in light of each client's needs.

Mr. Van Dam personally conducts patentability searches and prosecutes patent applications. He works with skilled draftsmen to obtain professional, patent-quality drawings. He also handles infringement opinions, licensing agreements, enforcement litigation and other matters.

Mr. Van Dam has written numerous patent applications relating to hurricane preparedness, building and construction ideas, medical devices, sports equipment, nutritional dietary supplements, electronic devices, software, mechanical devices and others.
